Halloween...

All I can say is...It's over! This year I somehow either volunteered or was volunteered (I'm not really sure which) to put on 2 Halloween parties. I was in charge of our Ward party on Thursday (October 30th) and then in charge of Jaxson's school party on Friday. I can tell you this...I won't be doing that ever again. I am sad because it made the holiday more of a stressful chore than a fun time to enjoy with my kids.

Here is the story of how my kids costumes came about. This summer we went to Yellowstone and as we were looking for souvenirs, Jaxson found a Forest Ranger vest and just had to have it. Well, of course I wanted him to have all of the accessories to go along with it (the hat, compass, binoculars, cantine, etc.). To justify spending a near fortune on these things Jaxson agreed that it would be a great Halloween costume. So, I decided that Max just had to be a Brown Bear, you know how I love to match and coordinate. I spent many hours researching the perfect costume online and the only cute bear costume there is out there is a Tom Arma costume. I found that there was one store in Utah that had this costume so, off I went to spend another fortune. This was going to be perfect!

About a week before Halloween, I was at Gymboree and happened to look at the Halloween costumes which were on sale. (I am always looking for dress up clothes because they are so hard to find for boys.) There was this darling Vampire costume and with the coupon it would be a steal. I bring it home and show Jaxson how cute this new dress up outfit was and wouldn't you know it...He just had to be a Vampire for Halloween! And no matter how I tried to bribe, convince, cajole or downright force, he refused to be the Forest Ranger.

And here is a picture of Max at the Ward Halloween party I did. (Notice there is no nose done because I was running around trying to get everything set up and barely got his costume on him.)

Halloween night I had my nieces and nephew over for a fun spooky dinner and then trick-or-treating. I made cute mini pigs in a blanket and green tater tots, which most of the kids refused to even eat because they were green.

Oh well...there is always next year!
